Bodhisattva Statues
Bodhisattva Statues
In the first century A.D. the great Buddhist philosopher Nagarjuna transformed the Hinayana Buddhism of the time into "great vehicle" Mahayana Buddhism, with its concept of the Bodhisattva. A Bodhisattva is a potential Buddha who actively carries the teachings of universal compassion for all sentient beings out into the world. Working ceaselessly and devoting all merit to others, a bodhisattva postpones his/her final attainment of nirvana until all sentient beings find liberation.
