This table-top prayer wheel in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition is decorated on the outside with the Buddhist eight auspicious symbols: umbrella (sign of royalty), golden fish (freedom from restraint), conch (symbol of spoken word), lotus (symbol of purity and Buddhahood, wheel (Buddhist wheel of the law, standard of victory (symbol of attainment of Enlightenment), vase (for holy water or treasures), endless knot (symbol of love and devotion, and longevity). The inside is filled with a scroll containing thousands of prayers, wrapped in the traditional red cloth. Prayer wheels can be placed on the corner of a desk, or on an altar. Spinning the prayer wheel clockwise creates merit and benefit as the mantras are released.

These traditional Buddhist prayer wheels are crafted in the Tibetan community in Kathmandu. All come packaged in an attractive hand-made Lokta paper box.
